This is how we affected the market in 2019

Every year we make an anonymous list of the products we have refused to certify. There is a brief rationale next to each product that can help you understand what we allow and what we don’t.

We have rejected certification of 72 products in 2019. This corresponds to approximately 15 percent of the number of products we received for certification last year. The vast majority of manufacturers choose to change their product so that the product ends up being certified. The figures and reasons for refusals, which can be read below, show that certification makes a health difference. There are a number of products that do not come on the market with harmful substances.

The work also shows that there is a large number of brand owners, who do not know what their products contain when they submit the products for certification. This may sound strange at first, but it makes good sense when we look at our work on checking the raw materials. Most of our working time goes to ensure that the raw materials used in the certified products do not contain allergens, carcinogens or endocrine disruptors. The information we access through that work is not necessarily available to the brand owner. And if it is, it does not mean that they have had the time or knowledge to research the raw materials.
